Marcel Gisler, born in 1960 in Altstätten, Switzerland, studied Drama and Philosophy at the Freie Universität Berlin. From 1999 to 2008 he was a visiting lecturer at different film schools (ESAV Geneva, écal Lausanne, F+F Zürich). Since 2009 he has lectured on direction of actors, screenwriting and directig at the German Film an Television Academy in Berlin. He is a member of the Swiss Film Academy and the European Film Academy EFA.
