Julián Hernández

Julián Hernández was born in Mexico City in1972 and he graduated in film from the state University UNAM. Hernández is known for his approach to the cinematographic language and the special attention he pays to aesthetics. Many critics have positively spoken about his work, often comparing it with choreographies and praise his use of sequence shots. He gained the attention of national and international film critics with his feature, A Thousand Clouds of Peace Encircle The Sky (2003). Also among his previous works are the feature films Broken Sky (2006), winner of the Teddy Award at Berlin Film Festival and Raging Sun, Raging Sky, winner of the same Award in 2009. Hernández has also directed, among others, the short films Por encima del abismo de la desesperación (1996), Hubo un tiempo en que los sueños dieron paso a largas noches de insomnio (1997), Bramadero (2007) shown in the 2008 Morelia International Film Festival, Vago rumor de mares en zozobra (2008), and Atmósfera (2009)
